Natalie Portman dresses for comfort as she shows off her baby bump in a close-fitting shirt

Being nominated for an Oscar is normally the high-point in an actresses life.
But Natalie Portman has something more important on her mind - motherhood.

Showing off her baby bump in a comfortable maternity T-shirt and jeans, the 29-year-old went for lunch with friends in Los Angeles today.

'I feel like I'm on another planet or something right now. It's not quite sinking in,' she told today's LA Times.

And she wasn't talking about her much sought-after and envied best actress nomination for Black Swan.

Instead she was looking forward to this summer, when she and fiancé Benjamin Millepied will welcome their first child.

'I feel really lucky. It's something that's completely wonderful, and I have a very definite goal I'm working toward with that,' she added.

Natalie may well be at the highpoint of her career, but she is planning on lying low over the next few months in order to bond with her daughter .

But although not on set the actress will be doing some hard work - she has three new releases to promote.

Action comedy Thor, comedy Your Highness, and Hesher, which she stars in and produces.

And although it is only February 2011 has already proved to be Natalie's year.
In her personal life she announced her engagement and that she was expecting her first baby, but her professional life was also on form.

Her film Black Swan started the year at the number one spot at the U.S. box office, and her next release, No Strings Attached, also topped the charts.

And she went onto win the Best Actress Award at the Golden Globes and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Whether an Oscar will complete her hat-trick remains to be seen.
